It is normal for there to be bleeding up to eight weeks after a surgical abortion or aspiration procedure, however it should stop after two months. If you are still bleeding after a month you’re advised to consult your abortion clinic or doctor for an evaluation. It could be a sign of retained tissue; other symptoms are passing clots, abdominal cramps that come and go, and a foul-smelling discharge. Having retained tissue is nothing to worry about as it isn’t harmful, however you might need a repeat abortion procedure.
